I don't know how I can ever thank you enough for helping me to achieve my amazing birth experience. In my opinion my positive experience was due to three things: luck, determination, and support. Your unwavering support allowed me to fearlessly face my labour and embrace my contractions and work with my body.

When you first arrived at the apartment I remember you telling me I needed to throw myself in and say take me over contractions and that's exactly what I did. At one point I didn't think I could do it anymore and I wanted to give up, but you kept encouraging and distracting me. Allen can't thank you enough either. He said when he arrived he didn't have a clue what to do, but you coached and encouraged him too.

I don't know if you remember the first time we met when you asked me what my ideal birth would be and I said arriving at the hospital fully dilated. Funny that that's exactly the way it turned out. You also told me about the power of positive thinking and coming up with a mantra of sorts to repeat to myself. Mine was 'my baby will be born head down of course and he'll be born on time naturally just like my horse', which is exactly what happened. Evan was born head down, on time and was sunny side up - just like my horse Andy had been (my mare Kandi was able to flip Andy on her own by rolling up against the wall of her stall right before he was born). In retrospect I should have added 'face down' to my little saying.

I also used positive thinking in the few days before I went into labour. I would sit quietly and imagine my baby dropping and my cervix opening. I think all of this combined with the fact that I wasn't afraid of my labour contributed to my amazing experience.

I really hope you will bless us by being present at the birth of our next child, whenever that my be.
